Emily Carr: New Perspectives

This exhibition explores the complex identity of Emily Carr – as defined by the artist herself, and many audiences – by revisiting the major 20th-century exhibitions that presented her work. This exhibition features nearly 200 objects from the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and major institutions across the country. In addition to some 150 works by the artist, Emily Carr: New Perspectives includes a partial reconstruction of the National Gallery’s 1927 exhibition, a section reminiscent of the 1945 memorial exhibition, as well as fascinating archival and scholarly material. Organized by the National Gallery of Canada and the Vancouver Art Gallery. Presented by Sun Life Financial.
