About the Artist

Patrick Coutu was born in 1975 in Montreal, where he currently lives and works. He has an M.F.A. from Concordia University, with a concentration in sculpture. His two- and three-dimensional works are inspired by his research into the natural world and nature’s own building processes. More recently, he has been working with mathematical modelling, exploring the creation of natural forms through physical activation.

Coutu is represented by Blouin-Division in Montreal and Toronto. His work can be found in numerous private, institutional and museum collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.
