House Blend Live — Art + Conversation

Thursday, September 17, 2020,
3:00 pm to 3:30 pm

Throughout the Fall, House Blend explores the vibrant ecologies of the Canadian art world. Join Gallery curators as they engage with artists, artist-run centres, museums, publishers, collectors and more.

This week we speak with Canadian artist and 2018 Sobey Art Award winner, Kapwani Kiwanga.

Trained in anthropology and comparative religious studies, Kapwani’s work investigates power imbalances in existing authoritarian narratives, in order to question and destabilize our normalized perceptions.

Together, the artist and Senior Curator Josée Drouin-Brisebois will discuss Kapwani’s recent and upcoming projects, and how these have been impacted by the ongoing pandemic.
