Maman sculptor Louise Bourgeois described her mother, a tapestry weaver, as clever, patient and as useful as a spider. But spiders, not unlike Bourgeois mother, can also be fearsome. Ahead of the premiere of his new octet this evening at Dominion-Chalmers, composer Rob Kapilow discusses his artistic inspiration with Maggie Wright, Executive Director, The Easton Foundation & Louise Bourgeois Archive, and Jonathan Shaughnessy, Associate Curator, Contemporary Art, National Gallery of Canada.
