Groups

As the permanent home of the world’s most comprehensive collection of Canadian art, the National Gallery of Canada is pleased to welcome groups of Canadians, and visitors from around the world, with preferred admission, complimentary services and special amenities.

Make the most of your time at the Gallery by pairing admission with a discovery tour or a hands-on experience in the studio. Our friendly staff will be pleased to assist you throughout your time with us.

 

Tours and Activities

 

Guided Group Tours of the National Collection and Special Exhibitions

Duration: One hour

Rates for guided adult group tours of certain special exhibitions may vary. Please contact group reservations at 613-990-4888 or [email protected] for further information. Prices do not include tax.

General Admission and Group Tour Rates

To be eligible for group rates, your group must have a minimum of 10 persons. Reservations are required — please contact us at 613-990-4888 or [email protected]. 

Please note: Groups should allow a minimum of 1.5 to 2 hours for their visit. To ensure an optimum experience, groups larger than 25 persons will be divided among additional facilitators.

Important Information for Groups

Admission dates, times and prices are subject to change. Please call 613-990-4888 (TDD 613-990-8340) to confirm details prior to your arrival. 

It is advisable to make group tour reservations three weeks prior to your anticipated visit.

Cancellations within 72 hours of the scheduled start time for guided group tours of the national collection will be charged $80 per booked guide. Invoices can be issued for payment of group tours.

 


Group Amenities

Group Entrance and Parking

Drop-off and pick-up take place at the Group Entrance, the first rotunda as you approach the National Gallery on the U-shaped drive. Buses may drop off and pick up along this same drive. Bus parking is available offsite. For further information about offsite parking, please visit the City of Ottawa website or contact them directly at 613-244-5600.


Group Check-in

The Group Check-in desk is at the entrance to the Foyer.


Group Cloakroom

Groups may use the group cloakroom at no cost. It is located between the Studio and Sketches, off the Foyer. Please enquire at the Group Check-in desk. Coats, backpacks, umbrellas, large camera bags and luggage are not permitted in the galleries.


Food Services

Gourmet Cuisine offers visitors three dining options. 7 Tapas Bar in the Scotiabank Great Hall offers an outstanding selection of wines paired with a one-of-a-kind small plates menu.

The Cafeteria is self-serve with daily specials, and offers spectacular views of the Parliament Buildings and the Ottawa River. Special group menus are available from the Cafeteria, when booked in advance. For further information and reservations, please contact the National Gallery of Canada’s caterers, Gourmet Cuisine.

With access at the Group Entrance, the Second Cup is a convenient break location.
