April 8, 15 and 22, 2020 - Online Wikipedia Edit-a-Thons
The Gallery's edit-a-thons are going virtual! Join us online over the following weeks to help us update underrepresented artists' profiles on Wikipedia from the safety of your own homes. Each week we'll focus on a different group of artists.
Via Zoom, staff from the Gallery will provide help for beginners from 2 - 2:30 pm. You can also send questions here [email protected]. Biographical material for suggested artists will be linked to below.

Writers and editors - experienced and new - are welcome to join us in the Library and Archives for the Gallery's second edit-a-thon. Popularized by groups like Art + Feminism, edit-a-thons are free events held to update underrepresented artists' profiles on websites like Wikipedia. Staff from the Gallery will provide help for beginners, lists of suggested artists, and reference materials.
Free admission. Public Wi-Fi available on-site. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops, and, if possible, to create a Wikipedia account in advance.

March 7, 2019 - Edit-a-thon for Indigenous Artists Biographies

Popularized by groups like Art + Feminism, edit-a-thons are free events held to update underrepresented artists' profiles on websites like Wikipedia. Staff from the Gallery will provide help for beginners, lists of suggested artists, and reference materials.
The Inuit Art Foundation is partnering with the National Gallery of Canada Library and Archives on this event to present an IAQ Profiles Edit-a-Thon. The Inuit Art Quarterly Profiles is the definitive online resource for artists, collectors, curators, gallerists and others to learn more about the diversity and talent of Inuit artists, working in all media. A free and publicly accessible platform produced by the Inuit Art Quarterly magazine, the IAQ Profiles features historical and contemporary artists from across Inuit Nunangat and southern Canada. Cataloguing artist exhibitions, publications, achievements and more, this unique resource is maintained by the Inuit Art Foundation but needs you to grow.
Free admission. Public Wi-Fi available on-site. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops, and, if possible to create a Wikipedia account and an IAQ Profiles account in advance.
