John Doig

John was appointed as Scotiabank’s Executive Vice President, Retail Distribution in December 2018. In this role he is responsible for defining and implementing the strategic direction, goals and execution of key initiatives for Retail Banking in Canada. John oversees all of Canadian Branch Banking and Small Business Banking.

John joined the bank in 1998 and has held progressively senior positions in Wealth Management, Marketing and Retail Banking. Most recently, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, responsible for all global marketing, sponsorship, philanthropy, and corporate social responsibility activities, including securing the 20-year partnership between Scotiabank and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and the naming of the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of SCENE.

John attended the University of Toronto and is a graduate of the Ivey Executive Program at the University of Western Ontario. He sits on the boards of Scotia Securities Inc. and the National Gallery of Canada Foundation, and is the executive champion of the Scotiabank Giller Prize.

John and his wife Carrie have three sons – Riley, Cuan and Owen.
