Considered one of the most influential Canadian silversmiths of the 18th and 19th centuries, Laurent Amiot completely redefined his craft, turning it into an art form. René Villeneuve, Curator of Early Canadian Art at the National Gallery of Canada, discusses the work of this great Canadian silversmith, now on view in the very first retrospective devoted to the artist and his exceptional contribution to the development of art in Canada.
