Biographical SketchRichard Franklin Manners, a conceptual artist living in Toronto, was born in Owen Sound, Ontario in 1945 and graduated from the Ontario College of Art in May 1970. His practice has evolved from painting to mixed media work and conceptual art, such as artists' books and mail art. His work has been included as one of the Canadian representatives for international mail art exhibitions in Italy in the 1990s, organized by Bruno Pollacci (1954- ) of the International Mail Art Archive. Manners was a member of Workscene Gallery in Toronto and a contributor, with artist Reinhard Reitzenstein (1949- ), to Artword Artists Forum in a regular column called "A Dialogue between Frank Manners and Reinhard Reitzenstein." His books are published by Hert Books in Toronto. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Contents of the CollectionThe fonds consists of original manuscripts, drawings, photographs, letters and notes, artist books, and projects by Frank Manners, including Some Aspects of Sidereal Time (1990); Flash Cards Text, (1990, unpublished); INSTRUMENT 19901991 (1991); The Unavailable Mind (1992); the original manuscript for 21.5Hz ->25Mhz (1995); and A Star Survey (1969-71). The fonds also consists of original drawings, paintings, and photographs created by Manners in Toronto, Greece, and Israel.
