Administrative History

ARLIS MOQ (ARLIS Montréal, Ottawa, Québec) is a local chapter of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA). It was ratified in February 1987 and was the first Canadian chapter of ARLIS/NA. The chapter was founded in order to foster a closer relationship among information professionals in the Montréal-Ottawa-Québec region. Its membership is composed of librarians, archivists, students and curators who work in art libraries, special collections and visual resources.

Scope and Contents of the Collection

The fonds consists of records related to the founding and administration of ARLIS MOQ. Files include bylaws, annual reports, committee reports, budget information, meeting minutes, correspondence, forms, material related to conferences, and mailing lists. There are also miscellaneous brochures, flyers, papers, and newsletters related to other art libraries and organizations (e.g., ARLIS/NA). In addition, there are files on the Vertical Files project (1989), the founding of ARLIS/NA Canada, and print and electronic copies of ARLIS MOQ's official publication, MOQDOC.

Source of title: Title based on content of the fonds.

Immediate source of acquisition: The first accrual was donated to the National Gallery of Canada by ARLIS MOQ circa 2012.

Terms governing use and reproduction: Permission to reproduce or publish material from the ARLIS MOQ fonds must be obtained from the National Gallery of Canada Library and Archives.

Associated material: The National Gallery of Canada Library and Archives manages the archiving of the ARLIS MOQ and MOQDOC websites via Archive-It. Access to these captures is available.

Series consists of files related to the administrative activities of ARLIS MOQ. It includes reports, meeting minutes, committee documents, membership information, documentation on the chapter's participation in ARLIS/NA and ARLIS/NA Canada, conference programs and related ephemera, two 1995 conference tote bags, a 1995 conference poster, and an ARLIS M/O/Q stamp.
