Marc Mayer reappointed as the Director and CEO of the National Gallery of Canada

December 20, 2013

Mr. Michael Tims, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the National Gallery of Canada, warmly welcomed the reappointment of Marc Mayer as the Director of the National Gallery of Canada for a second term of five years. Mr. Mayer’s reappointment was announced yesterday by the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

“I am honoured by this opportunity to continue to serve the Canadian people in this capacity and I thank Minister Glover, the Government of Canada and the Gallery’s Board of Trustees most warmly for their confidence in me,” said Marc Mayer.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Tims commented that “Marc Mayer is an excellent leader for Canada’s National Gallery. He is a catalyst in moving the Gallery forward on a number of fronts, including: increasing private donations and corporate sponsorship; assisting with key exhibitions and art loans; and enhancing the Gallery’s outreach and its partnerships with other galleries and museums. My Board colleagues and I very much look forward to continuing our work with Marc.”

The Minister’s media release on this reappointment was issued yesterday at www.pch.gc.ca.
