When is the NGC open?

As of July 18, the Gallery will operate at a reduced capacity and offer new hours of operation. To ensure the health and safety of visitors and staff, we remind all visitors to wash their hands, keep 2 meters apart and wear a mask at all times. Visit our reopening FAQ page to learn more.

Open Thursday to Sunday, from 10 am to 5 pm, Thursday to 8 pm. 

 

How much does it cost to visit the Gallery?

Family (2 adults and 3 youths age 17 and under) $32
Free admission for children age 11 and under and Members of the Gallery
Free admission Thursdays after 5 pm (National Collection only)

All prices do not include taxes. Fees may apply for phone and internet reservations.

Is parking available at the Gallery?

Yes, the National Gallery has an underground parking garage. Underground parking costs $2.75 per half-hour, up to a daily maximum of $14 (Members $12). The clearance for the underground parking garage is 1.8 metres (6 feet). Parking is also permitted on adjacent streets.

 

How can I purchase tickets to the NGC?

You can purchase tickets at the Gallery’s box office in person, or by phone at 613-998-8888 or 1-888-541-8888 (service charges apply to purchases by phone).

For group visits, please book three weeks in advance at 613-990-4888.

 

What can I bring into the Gallery?

Bags larger than 30 × 40 × 12 cm (12 × 16 × 5 inches), backpacks, luggage and umbrellas must be checked in the cloakroom, where you can also check your coat. The cloakroom is free of charge. Bags may be searched upon entering or leaving the building. Balloons, flags and banners are not permitted inside the building. No food or beverages are permitted in the Gallery.

 

Can I get a stroller or wheelchair at the NGC?

Yes. Strollers and wheelchairs provided free of charge at the Foyer Information Desk.

 

Where can I eat at the Gallery?

The National Gallery of Canada is a wonderful space to enjoy a snack, a glass of wine or a coffee, your packed lunch or a delicious meal.

Where do I go if I’ve lost something at the NGC?

If you’ve lost something at the Gallery, you can inquire at the Cloakroom.

 

Can I take photographs with my camera?

The NGC is no longer preventing visitors from using hand-held devices to take photographs in the national collection galleries and public spaces for personal use only, except where indicated.
It is the visitors’ responsibility to respect Canadian copyright laws (see http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/c-42/) and the rights of artists and their representatives.
Flash photography and tripods are not permitted.

  • How do I know if I can or cannot photograph a work of art?
    You will see a “No Photo” symbol close to the artwork’s label OR a “No Photo” sign at the entrance to the exhibition space.
  • Can I photograph an entire room of works if only one of the works in the space has a “No Photo” symbol?
    No, you are not allowed to take a photograph of an artwork identified with a “No Photo” symbol.

 

 

Does the Thursday night free admission (from 5pm - 8pm) include Special Exhibitions?

No. Every Thursday evening, from 5pm until 8pm, admission is free to the Gallery's national collection. This does not include any Special Exhibitions on view at that time.

 

If I have a complimentary ticket for the Gallery, where can I redeem it?

If you have a complimentary pass, please exchange it for a timed ticket at the box office in the main entrance of the Gallery.

 

How can I purchase a Gift Certificate?

Boutique Gift Certificates, available in any amount may be obtained by contacting a Customer Service Representative at 613-990-0962 or 1-855-202-4568 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Please note that Gift Certificates may only be redeemed in-store and cannot be used online.

If you wish to obtain photographic material or reproduce an NGC image, you must apply for permission to do so. Fill out the online form.

What can I purchase online?

Our virtual boutique offers 1000 items from the NGC Boutique, including catalogues, books, posters, stationery, DVDs, games, and special exhibitions merchandise. Visit www.ShopNGC.ca to discover your online store.

 

What methods of payment are accepted for online purchases?

We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards.

 

How much will it cost to ship my order?

Shipping and Handling rates are calculated separately for each shipping address. We ship using FedEx. Please refer to the “Shipping Options” page for more information.

 

What is your return policy?

If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return your merchandise within 30 days for exchange or refund. To obtain a return authorization, please contact customer service by e-mail ([email protected]a) or call; 1-855-202-4568. For additional information, please see our Return Policy page. Shipping and handling charges are not refundable.

 

Can orders be shipped internationally?

Most of our products can be shipped to international addresses. Recipients are responsible for paying all applicable customs, duties and taxes upon delivery. Shipping rates are calculated based on the destination.
