The artist’s inscription, in Inuktitut syllabics, translates as: This man is from the Belcher Islands. He is wearing an eider duck skin parka as people used to wear in the past. He is wearing warm clothing. His fish spear is broken. He has two sons and tries to work hard. That is the only way they can eat. Sometimes we do not know what to do.
