Betty Goodwin

Untitled

1977
In 1977 Betty Goodwin began a series of drawings of the image of a bed. Her repeated rendering and reworking of the form assisted her in translating the image into three dimensions in an untitled sculpture produced at Artpark in Lewiston, NY, in 1978. Her use of graphite and oil pastel, in their opacity and textured mark making, led her to work with steel. She conceptualized the overlapping steel sheets as massive sheets of paper.
