Pauta Saila
Untitled
1962
Category:
Primarily a sculptor, Pauta began making prints in 1962. Accustomed to working with hatchet and axe, as this expressive little engraving shows, he brought some of his robust energy to his way of incising on the copperplate. Bears are a favourite subject, and this one looks rather ferocious. See also the nearby sculpture by the artist, "Standing Bear", 1962 (no. 39636).
