For over two decades, Normand Rajotte has photographed with a poetic and spiritual engagement. The artist seeks fragments of natural elements, traces of elemental forces and marks left by the land's inhabitants. His images testify to the ever-present energies that move and flow through the natural world: the gusts of wind across the water's surface; the flux of silts along a river bed; the flash of sunlight reflected by leaves; the whirl of water at a riverbank. On a solitary quest, the artist moves slowly through his rural property as he searches for glimpse of natural force, which he then isolates with his camera, and enlarges to share with the viewer. Rajotte's images communicate the profound relationship between humanity and nature. They also reflect the artist's desire to achieve and, through the photograph, bear witness to harmony between interior and exterior states.
