The Inquisitors' Dictionary

1992
The installation is intended to suggest a game of chess, set up so that a master chess player plays against many opponents at once. Game pieces are contact lenses engraved with words from a dictionary, originally published in Valencia in 1494, that was used to detect heresy by Spanish Inquisitors at the end of the fifteenth century.
