Alfred Sisley

The Hillsides at Bougival

1875
Sisley rarely painted figures or portraits, preferring landscape views along the Seine and its environs. Bougival is situated downriver and west of Paris. In the nineteenth century, it was a small village that attracted pleasure-seeking Parisians by offering pastimes of dancing, swimming and boating.
