The subject for the work is the cultural phenomenon of "The Beachcombers", an extremely popular television series filmed on Vancouver Island in British Columbia that aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation from 1972-1990. "The Beachcombers" featured a multicultural cast of beachcombers that included a Greek immigrant Nick Adonidas (Bruno Gerusi) and his First Nations sidekick Jessie Jim (Pat John), as well as the embittered old Relic (Robert Clothier). Often the characters met at a fictitious restaurant known as "Molly's Reach". The television series encapsulated many popular notions and themes of British Columbia coastal life including logging and fishing, and was exported to an international audience. Here the artist has paired souvenir items and memorabilia from the show with a particular episode entitled "The boss log" in order to investigate the memory of this television series that has been etched into the minds of a generation of Canadians.
