Yves Gaucher

Silences

1996
In "Silences", Yves Gaucher takes up his early interest in laminating different papers into a single print, here using several Japanese papers over BFK Rives paper. He employs two printing techniques: woodblock printing for the outer figures, where the use of two colours produces a rich dark colour, and etched copper plates for the central motif, where the illusion of relief is maintained although the paper has been flattened in the lamination process.
