1974
Category:
In a 1990 interview published in Uqalurait, elder Anna Atagutsiaq shared her knowledge: The shamans assisted those who wanted to become a shaman when they were good candidates and [they] guided them as they learned about higher power. The people who possessed the higher power supported and guided their students to a point where they achieved the required knowledge and wisdom and each was transformed from a normal Inuk into a shaman.
