Christos Dikeakos

sènakw / sun'aq

1992
Having chosen "bridging" as the metaphor for this group of works within his "Sites and Place Names" project, Dikeakos conducted research on the sites of bridges around Vancouver. Archival sources and interviews with First Nations elders revealed information about what the sites had been before the city overtook them. From this material he gleaned key words associated with their ancient uses. These words float in front of images of the sites, suggesting how things once were.
