The title suggests Guido Molinari's interest in quantifying colour, its saturation and mass, the area and illusory depth that colour creates. One could call "Quantifier, La Rochelle No. 1" a "slow read" - it takes time to allow our eyes to distinguish the two almost equal blacks that divide the painting's surface.
