Lower St. Lawrence

The Op Art movement of the 1960s was made possible by the brilliant paint tones that had recently come onto the market and by the enthusiasm for optical illusion shown by some contemporary painters. Here the tight, undulating lines and the marked contrast between the two dominant colours create an illusion of waves, giving the work its title.
