Adrien Hébert

L'Enclos, Île Bélair

1921
The sculptor Louis-Philippe Hébert bought land on Bélair Island on the Rivière des Mille Îles north of Montreal in 1906. There he constructed a compound of buildings that he called L'Enclos where his large family, including his son Adrien, spent the summer months. In this study of sun-dappled buildings, Adrien has realized a remarkable clarity of light and space.
