Marc-Aurèle Fortin

Landscape, Ahuntsic

c. 1923-1930
Fortin studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and is known for his urban landscapes and tree iconography, which he explored between 1923 and 1930. This canvas is completed in full chromatic colour with modulating greys, which is characteristic of this period in his production. Fortin rejected many of the modern art currents, preferring a more Post-Impressionistic style.
