Will Ogilvie

Girl with Plant

1933
Ogilvie studied art in Johannesburg (1921–24) and later at the Art Students League in New York (1927–30). This flat, geometric composition reflects Art Deco and Cubist influences, and attempts to show all perspectives at once. Decorative and buoyant, it is a charming reflection of modernist art and the international influences discernible in Canadian art in the 1930s.
