Horton often uses mundane, cast-off materials to investigate the construction of reality through mediating technologies. For these works, he circled around and photographed piles of debris in his studio. He then adjusted the translucency of the layered digital images, recalling their analogue precursors, where frames of film would have been manually overlaid to create composites. Their multiple perspectives recall cubist or futurist paintings, while revealing traces of the artist’s environment and process.
