Vikky Alexander

Blue Obsession

1983, printed 2016
Living in New York in the early 1980s, Alexander worked alongside so-called Pictures Generation artists such as Barbara Kruger, Sherrie Levine and Richard Prince. Many of these artists appropriated massmedia images in their work, often applying a theoretical framework borrowed from French structuralism. Using fashion magazines as her source, Alexander has cropped and enlarged here three images of the model Christie Brinkley.
