David B. Milne

Black Hills

1917
In 1916 Milne moved from New York City to Boston Corners, New York, to focus on painting and get away from the hustle and bustle. There, he fully developed his unique artistic style and made a series of studies of the hills around his home. He experimented with black, often using it to fill in the trees and create an interesting tension.
