The Inuktitut inscription reads: "I was baptized by Inuktaaqauq in 1945 on the Nascopie when I was ten years old. Ajurisuijikutaaq was also present." Inuktaaqauq (The one who baptizes infants) is the name Inuit gave to the Anglican minister, Archibald Fleming, who became Bishop of the Arctic. Ajurisuijikutaaq (The tall minister) was the name given to Reverand Quartermain. In the days of more limited transportation, Hudson's Bay Company supply ships such the Nascopie were often used by people travelling between Arctic communities. In this drawing, autobiography becomes part of Kananginak's interest in documenting Inuit life.
