Docents
Docents and guides bénévoles are volunteer guides who lead visits for children in Grades 1 to 6, and provide daily public tours and mini-talks, commentaries on individual works of art, and special sessions to inform all visitors. These volunteers receive regular continuing training under Gallery staff, and spend time studying and preparing for their duties. High standards are maintained. The duties of the volunteer guides complement those of the Gallery’s professional staff. Information on the tours and talks are posted in the Lobby of the Main Entrance and the Great Hall.
Docents work with English-speaking visitors. Guides bénévoles work with French-speaking visitors. Mini-talks in English are presented in the galleries each Thursday at 12:15 pm and on week-ends (consult the Gallery calendar for time of presentation). Mini-causeries in French are presented on Thursdays at 1:00 pm and on week-ends (consult the Gallery Program for time of presentation). Guided tours in either language, free with Gallery admission, are offered Tuesday to Friday starting at 2 pm.
