Volunteers’ Circle
The Volunteers’ Circle of the National Gallery of Canada supports the mandate and the work of the Gallery in many ways. The Circle presents study groups for Gallery members and members of the public who are interested in learning more about the visual arts. The English-speaking docents and the French-speaking guides bénévoles are available to give visitors free (after payment of Admission fee) guided tours to the galleries, daily, and to discuss individual works in scheduled mini-talks on Thursdays and on week-ends.
Travel is arranged for members of the National Gallery of Canada to visit regional art venues, and to enjoy cultural tours abroad.
One program is devoted to visiting artists’ workshops in the National Capital Region.
Volunteers assist in Gallery exhibitions and behind the scenes in the library and the bookstore. Many volunteers also visit local anglophone and francophone elementary schools to bring the world of art to children in their classrooms.
