Artissimo

Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm
Daily from 11 am to 4 pm during March break

For budding artists ages 3 and up accompanied by an adult. No registration required. Bilingual. Free with Gallery admission.

Artissimo is all about looking at and making art. Families explore artworks in the Gallery’s collection in an extraordinary manner with our great activities. Go on an adventure with an Art Buddy, explore with your fingertips using a Feely Box or search for animals with our Animals at the Gallery family guide. Then, inspired by your discoveries, let your creativity shine at the Artissimo Kiosk in the Great Hall and exhibit your masterpiece in the Artissimo Gallery.

The Artissimo Gallery showcases, on a rotating basis, art made by children and their families at the Kiosk, as well as art made by participants in workshops, clubs, camps, and other programs held at the National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography. The latest activity for families is based on a large-scale reproduction of a painting from the collection, Behind Bonsecours Market, Montreal by William Raphael.

Do you know a child who would like to create an artwork to hang on the Artissimo Gallery wall?
