Rober Racine

23 Nov 2001 - 24 Feb 2002

The National Gallery of Canada is pleased to present the most ambitious and comprehensive exhibition to date of the work of Rober Racine, one of the best artistic talents working in Canada today. This internationally renowned artist's work doesn't fit into any conventional artistic category. In fact, what is crucial to Racine is his ability to express himself through the use of many media. The Rober Racine exhibition will be presented both inside and outside the National Gallery of Canada from 23 November 2001 to 24 February 2002.The Rober Racine exhibition assembles the major pieces in the artist's body of work and traces his progression from the written word to the vitality and unique qualities of his most recent works. The exhibition includes Racine's drawings; video; audio and sculpture installations; photography; books; and manuscripts. His art will be shown in two spaces: in the contemporary galleries, and in the exterior Couryard, where he has created an installation especially for the National Gallery of Canada. The exhibition was organized in collaboration with the artist, Rober Racine, and Galerie René Blouin, Montreal.
