This major retrospective of the career of Edwin Holgate (1892–1977), a central figure in Montreal’s art community and the history of Canadian art, features more than 150 works, including a selection of paintings, drawings, watercolours, prints, book illustrations, and archival photographs. Best known for his portraits and nude studies, Holgate also painted landscapes and was a master of wood engraving. Recognized masterpieces and unpublished works from public and private collections are brought together for the first time since the artist’s death. Organized by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Presented by Bombardier.
