Marc-Aurèle Fortin enjoyed travelling alone throughout Québec, often in search of a peaceful site to paint, such as this one in Ahuntsic on Montreal Island. No doubt attracted to these surroundings by the large, majestic elms, he employed a decorative style to capture the subtle colour variations of the green leaves in early autumn.
