This is a model for one mural in a decorative scheme Reid and other artists proposed for the lobby of the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa in 1907. Here, Canadians past and present pay homage to figures representing Canada, the provinces and territories. The group did not receive the commission, and Reid altered the painting slightly when he installed this model in his Toronto home in 1918. Gustav Hahn's "Hail, Dominion" was part of the same decorative proposal.
