The creative process was a subject that fascinated Laliberté. Here, the sculptor carves himself out of stone or, as he wrote, "removes that which is too material to reveal an idealized youth." In a more autobiographical vein, "a young man born of a modest family attains, through his talent, labours and perseverance, a place among men."
