An established graphic artist, Qavavau Manumie has also been a revered printmaker at the Kinngait Studios (Nunavut) for decades. These works on paper present the diversity of the artist's style, which ranges from highly narrative, lyrical depictions to more abstract and wildly expressive imagery. Characteristic in all of his work is a crisp line and subtle, even application of colour. Speaking about the largest of the drawings on view here, "Untitled" (2011), Manumie describes "an eye watches over everyone in the world. At times when we're alone, we get a feeling someone is watching over us. That's what this eye is doing."
