Since 1970 Elisapee Ishulutaq has been contributing drawings to the tapestry studio and print workshop in Pangnirtung on Baffin Island; more than 90 of her drawings have been made into prints. In recent years, she has increasingly incorporated historical and autobiographical references into her work. "Nunagah (My Home Place)" is exemplary in this regard. This massive production recounts stories from the artist's lifetime on an epic scale. At left is a view of the family's hunting camp, "Iqalulik," from Ishulutaq's childhood and adolescence, to the right is a scene from "Natilik" (Nettilling Lake), between Pangnirtung and Cape Dorset, where Inuit would congregate during the summer hunting season.
