Around the mid-1970s, Pudlo had the opportunity to experiment with various new media - acrylic painting and lithography, in particular. One effect of these encounters seems to have been a greater awareness of the full surface and shape of the paper on which Pudlo constructed his images. Forms, such as this musk-ox, no longer needed to be centred on the page. Indeed, the artist could add a sense of snapshot immediacy, or even mystery, by cutting off his figures, as if they were literally walking on or off the page.
