"Untitled", could well be described as a masterwork of this artist’s oeuvre. The swirling pools of colour, characteristic of Janvier’s work at this time, convey his sense of celebration of the reawakening of Aboriginal culture, capturing the colours and energies of celebration and determination. Combining complex interplays of positive and negative space with intricate, yet balanced, colour patterns and flowing curvilinear lines, he melds his modernist aesthetic with his concern for the survival and recognition of Aboriginal peoples.
