Canadian, 1942
5 dye coupler prints on paper
40.3 x 50.5 cm each

National Gallery of Canada (no. 26547.1-5)
In his photography Tousignant experiments with perceived reality to construct abstract spaces and structures, playing upon the concepts of time and truth in photography. Developing compositions that are both formal and abstract, his images are interventions on both the subject matter and the printed image; not only did the artist make and photograph shapes in the sand, he also marked the final photographs. This installation is from his series "Solar Geometrizations".
