    Join us at the Artissimo Studio, where families can have fun making art – and leave the mess behind! Each month features a new project to create and take home. Art projects are thematically linked to artworks on view at the National Gallery of Canada. 

    All materials are provided (smocks too!). Drop in and stay as long as you like. Free with Gallery admission. Ages 3 -12, adult supervision required. From 11 am to 4 pm in Studio 1. Open on Saturdays, Sundays, Statutory Holidays, Family Day and December and January Winter Break. Maximum of 55 participants at one time.

    Meet Patrick Gauthier, Painting Conservation Technician from the Restoration and Conservation Laboratory at the National Gallery of Canada. Patrick is dedicated to preparing the paintings of Alex Janvier for the artist’s career retrospective. He will share some of the conservation challenges and provide insight on how the NGC and the artist worked collaboratively to find creative solutions.

    Note: A separate English presentation, From Cold Lake to the Nation: Conservation Challenges of the Janvier Exhibition, will be offered on Wednesday 8 March 2017 from 10:30 to 11:30 am in the Auditorium.

    Painting Conservation Technician, Patrick Gauthier received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University in Montreal in 2014. Patrick interned at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and at the National Gallery of Canada. He was awarded the degree of Master of Art Conservation from Queen’s University in 2016.
