PRESS RELEASE

A donation of $125,000 to celebrate the National Gallery of Canada’s 125th anniversary

The National Gallery of Canada and its Foundation are very proud to announce a remarkable donation of $125,000 by the Volunteers’ Circle of the National Gallery of Canada to celebrate the Gallery’s 125th anniversary.

The funds will be allocated to the acquisition of a work of art (a painting) in partnership with the Gallery and its Foundation, and will also support an educational program.

“I would like to express my deep appreciation, that of my Fondation and Gallery Board colleagues, and that of the Gallery team, for your generous gesture of support and leadership gift”, declared Marie Claire Morin, President et CEO of the National Gallery of Canada Foundation. Mr. Pierre Théberge, Director of the National Gallery of Canada added, “ The Gallery’s Board of Trustees and the Gallery team all feel that the Volunteers’ Circle members are deserving of praise and recognition for their important contribution of time, dedication and loyalty over the past 48 years, in support of the Gallery’s mandate and objectives.”

The Volunteer’s Circle of the National Gallery of Canada was founded in 1958. The group is dedicated to stimulating interest in the National Gallery of Canada and providing opportunities for the general public, as well as members of the Gallery, to participate as volunteers in Gallery activities. Through their time, talent, and commitment to the institution, the Volunteer’s Circle assists the Gallery in fulfilling its mandate and objectives.
