The National Gallery Celebrates International Museums Day, 18 May

Ottawa, Canada - May 15, 2002

« Le Musée des beaux-arts célèbre la Journée internationale des musées, le 18 mai »

The National Gallery of Canada invites the public to celebrate International Museum's Day with a festive day of activities for all ages.

On Saturday 18 May, museums around the world will celebrate International Museum Day, a day designated to honour the significant role of museums worldwide. The National Gallery will mark the occasion with an exciting day of family activities and special discovery tours of its spectacular collection.

Especially for Museums Day, the National Gallery will also offer special promotions and giveaways, including a free poster with every purchase from the Bookstore, and chances to win family memberships.

The National Gallery's affiliate museum, the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography (CMCP) will celebrate with special tours of its current solo exhibitions by internationally recognized photographers, Malak Karsh, Mariana Yampolsky and Ken Straiton. Visitors will be able to take advantage of special promotions at the Museum Boutique and enter a draw for a family membership.

All activities at the National Gallery and the CMCP are free for Museums Day.
