Number Structure and Fractals is a well-known work from Nakamura's series of Number Structures. In this series, Nakamura investigates the way structures make up all natural forms, "the law of order that lies in everything", the way all things are connected.

Nakamura once said, "I was always interested in internal structures, the law of order that lies in everything. Cézanne broke nature down into cones, spheres. But we are living in an age where we can see a structure, a structure based on atomic structure and motion." 1993.
