gelatin silver print

Theme:

This photograph is of Renner’s friend and colleague, John Wood. Renner got into photography in the early 1970s through his association with Wood, who was also doing photography. Wood is pictured in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Penland, North Carolina. Renner has made pinhole portraits since the 1970s. He feels they are among his most important photographs. The 10-inch square negative for this photograph took 10 minutes to expose in the camera. The final image was contact-printed.
