Melvin Charney was trained as an architect and graduated from Yale University. Professor at the University of Montreal's School of Architecture, he turned to critiquing architectural theory and practice. This renowned artist is interested in ordinary urban buildings, which he "deconstructs" through drawings, documents, photographs and other means to "bring out the sense behind the vocabulary of familiar things." At the last step of his research, he constructs by recomposing these images.
